Around 10,000 low-income households are being given the opportunity to cut their energy bills.
This comes as part of a scheme launched by the Scottish government which aims to eradicate fuel poverty in the country.
The initiative involves homeowners being given help regarding the cost of central heating systems and insulation for their property.
Assistance in finding low-cost gas and electricity tariffs is also part of the scheme.
Alex Neil, the housing and communities minister, said that the government was extending the initiative beyond those that are currently eligible.
Under the new scheme, large families who claim for child tax credit could also be able to benefit from the project.
The initiative is currently open to groups such as pensioners and some low-income families.
Commenting on the news, John Dickie of the Children's Fuel Poverty Coalition of Scotland said: "This extension of support to help more struggling families heat their homes is very welcome."
